What is A Far Infrared Sauna?
Unlike traditional saunas that use steam or high heat, infrared (FIR) saunas use infrared radiant heat - similar to that used by the sun without the harmful UV rays.
Even our own bodies produce infrared heat so this type of heat is very safe.
Did You Know...
Many health experts say that saunas are one of the best ways to detox heavy metals like mercury from your body.
"To enhance removal of mercury, I recommend using an infrared sauna. Sauna therapy helps the body release mercury."

Benefits of FIR Saunas
Detoxification - Many natural health experts including Dr Don Colbert recommend infrared home saunas for detoxification - especially of heavy metals like mercury:

Lose Weight - Experts say you can burn as many calories in a sauna as you can in a 30 minute run - sometimes up to 700 calories in one session. This is also helpful for people who - for various reasons like injury or illness - cannot exercise.
Look Younger - Sweating helps improve your skin texture by getting rid of old dead skin cells and removing impurities. After 1 week of regular sessions in our home sauna, people started commenting on how fresh and young my husband was looking. They actually started to ask him what supplements he was on.
Reduce Cellulite - This is also probably due to enhanced circulation and detoxification. Many natural health experts claim that excess toxins and poor circulation contribute to cellulite formation. Regular sauna sessions can help you sweat off these toxins so it's easier to reduce cellulite.
Pain Relief - Because of the increased circulation, saunas often help with pain relief. If you suffer from fibromyalgia, back pain, headaches arthritis and even sports injuries, you may find that sauna sessions bring relief.
This site is based on research I did before I bought my own home sauna (so hopefully you can learn from my mistakes!) Thanks for visiting and enjoy your sauna!
Burn 700 Calories A Session - Without Exercise?
In a 2009 Oprah show on Life Extension, Dr Oz highlighted a Far Infrared Sauna as a way to burn up to 700 calories in a single session.
He also stated that a sauna session can help to reduce blood pressure and release toxins stored in body fat.
This radiant heat directly heats the user and not the air, as traditional saunas do.
The advantage to this is that you still sweat - but at much lower temperatures than a conventional sauna. In fact some estimates say we get 7 times more sweat with an infrared home sauna than a traditional sauna becuase of the direct heating of the body.
Because you don't need it as hot as a traditional sauna to still get a sweat, you can stay in longer and get a more effective sauna session - with more calories burned and more detoxifying effects.
